I think my favorite beatitude is “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they willl be filled” (Matthew 5:6).

2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” So, our righteousness comes from Christ. Also, Jesus says that he is the bread of life (John 6) and that “whoever drinks of the water I will give him will never thirst again” (John 4). With that, if we hunger and thirst for righteousness we will be filled because Jesus, our bread and living water, will completely satisfy us and through him we are made holy and righteous.
